Follow the Red Line

By in ilovethatproject

On January 1st EAGER inspiring photo series started the quest for the longest conceptual photo series ever. That’s why they are looking for photographers worldwide who want to contribute. The project is called: Follow the Red Line.

The concept? A red line that connects the photos graphically and our mutual love/hate feeling towards shooting a self-portrait are the main ingredients. The first submissions show the effect already (www.redlineportraits.com)!

The goal is to connect photographers all around the globe virtually. That’s why the project wishes to obtain contributions from at least 100 countries, which is about half of all the countries in the world. EAGER also aims to accept 2012 contributions before December 31st, 2012. Very eager ambitions indeed, so all help is more than welcome!

EAGER will organise an exhibition presenting the best submissions.

All photographers are welcome to join in. In each portrait (1200 x 1800 pixels) a red line must be visible, entering the photo on the left and leaving it on the right. The copyright of the photos remains with the photographer and his credits and website will be mentioned. Contributions can be submitted via the website www.redlineportraits.com.

The Liminal Points Project

By in ilovethatbook

Rokov Publishing, founded by photographer Nick Rochowski is a new independent creative platform for collaborative output. I’m very excited to show you their first publication: The Liminal Points Project.

The Liminal Points Project is a re-exploration of Penn Wood, Buckinghamshire and a journey back to a vivid childhood fantasy. Working at dawn, dusk and night blending natural and constructed lighting techniques in conjunction with elements from the landscape, the betwixt, large-scale images lie in a place that is somewhere between realities, as if you have stumbled upon a happening.

The book starts with a very nice illustration of Greg Haynes. The collaboration between the illustrator and the photographer fits very well for this publication. The photography in the book is a beautiful mix between reality and fantasy. I like the idea of using lighting techniques in a natural environment. Nick Rochowski makes use of the available light or uses lighting techniques in more of his projects. Check out his beautiful portfolio:http://www.rochowski.net/

In the book you can find a download link for an exclusive soundtrack made by Deepsea.

Paul Gerhard Diez, Travelling Across the USA

By in ilovethatbook

It is the summer of 1954. A young student named Gerhard starts his ten-week journey across the USA.

“The United States of America, a country that was so powerful, so distant, so foreign, they must have seen this young man as they would have looked upon an alien from outer space, a young man who came with his cardboard suitcase from destroyed Germany, Nazi country, the home of murderers.”

The first photograph in the book shows the map of America. With a thick black pencil, Gerhard has set his journey. We see America through the eyes of someone who landed in a completely different world. Something that nowadays has become nearly impossible. Everywhere we come we find the same big stores and brands. This is what makes this photobook so interesting.

Gerhard wrote a short comment on each picture. In the comments you see sometimes amazement by the things he sees on his journey. Like the comment on a photo that shows a mailbox for cars: “A mailbox designed especially for cars”. The amazement by Gerhard inspires me.

His travels came to an end on August 12, 1954, after 15065 miles on the road.

Travelling Across the USA is published in a German and an English edition.
